UNEXPECTED SECONDARY REVELATIONS
ARENAS FOR IMPULSIVITY

SCRAPING, WIPING, SMEARING
CHARACTERISTICS AND TRIVILIALITY OF PROCESS
FREEDOM AND FUNCTION
Aesthetically I’m drawn to the accidental, the in-discreet and the characteristics and triviality of process. This exhibition seeks to consider the unexpected or secondary revelations that form as part of my practice - bringing the periphery into focus.
Often beginning with a single impulse, these paintings began life as palettes for other paintings, or as substitutes for the painter’s rag - for scraping, wiping and smearing excess paint onto. After the initial mark, they become secondary works to the primary piece; arenas for impulsivity, freedom and unexpected revelations.
Painting is thinking and fragments of thoughts become preludes to new stories.
